Lazarev. recap — what 2022 was like for our design team

Summary

In Ukraine, this year has been a turbulent sprint one could imagine — the russian full-scale invasion divided our lives into before and after. But the unbreakable Ukrainian spirit, the thirst for truth and justice, and the desire to live made us unstoppable. This strength resulted in a fruitful period that drastically changed and grew our team.

How? Let’s see.

An award winning web design agency

Looking back at this year, it's been almost 365 days of great challenges and great achievements.

Our design team won 76 awards in 2022. For the first time we’ve become Red Dot winners and Webby Award winners.  Among other accolades Lazarev. got are also such giants as FWA, CSS Design Awards, Titan Business Awards, and much more.

Although awards aren't the end goal of our work, we're grateful to be recognized by the international creative and design community. It means that our approach reaps fruitful results not only for the businesses we work with but for us as well.

Speaking of Lazarev. clients, we delivered robust numbers for them that are worth celebrating. Keep on reading to find out.

Lazarev. client success stories

Our UI UX design team was lucky to partner with outstanding companies such as Bluwalk — a B2B2C gig economy app, Nodo — a filming gear company, 11Sight  —  a video engagement platform, blockchain platforms like Kin and Metastaq, and other ~ 80 innovative projects.

Let us walk you through a part of them.

Bluwalk

We met Bluwalk CEO Miguel Pinto — an entrepreneur passionate about the gig economy. He created an app that connects couriers and drivers with ride booking, grocery, and parcel delivery companies. In other words, the product facilitates cooperation between both sides of the gig marketplace. We loved the project and partnered with Bluwalk to enhance it with a redesign and increase conversion rate. Lazarev. UX team simplified the platform's structure, sorted out features, and fixed flow-related bugs.

Bluwalk didn't wait for the first results too long — the platform's sign-up flow spiked by practically twice. Our agency managed to increase conversions from 9% to 20%, given that Bluwalk's paid marketing activities remained the same.

We reckon it's a home run and we’re sure more results are yet to come in.

Kin

When we got to meet Matt Hannam, the executive director of this Web3 platform, our teams clicked right away. We were inspired by how ambitious the startup is, aiming to be a cryptocurrency millions would use daily. Lazarev. partnered with Kin Ecosystem to help them move forward in their mission, upgrade the 5-year-old website with an immersive digital experience, and increase organic traffic.

Our design team considered ever-emerging blockchain platforms and ensured Kin stands out with a fresh take among similar startups. So after 800+ hours of work leveraging research, Web3 design, 3Ds, animation, and live gradients, we delivered a new vibrant site that attracts people to explore the Kin Ecosystem world and helped increase organic traffic by 120%.

Nodo

If you have ever wondered what the breakthrough in modern cinematography looks like, the Nodo founder Boyd Hobbs and his team know it firsthand. These fellas change the filming scene with the first wireless camera controllers featuring circuit-board motors — Inertia Wheels Max.

Our goal was to design an interactive landing page to elevate audience reach, convey the core value of a physical product through the screen, and help hit an email growth rate. For that, we employed rich 3D models and eye-catching animations.

This endeavor resulted in great numbers — 106 people, both new subscribers and existing ones, filled out the interest form on the landing page representing an 8% email list growth.

A year of great people and great challenges

Ever since the russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine broke out, we joined the fight for our freedom the way we could best. The war ignited our drive to keep going, supporting our country by taking on new projects. We have donated over $100k so far to help our armed forces, people in Ukraine, as well as our brave colleagues' family members who joined the army to protect our country.

This challenging time once again showed us that the most important part of Lazarev.agency is its team. During the first days of war we provided our people with a psychologist to help deal with shock and atrocities.

Even though most of us are scattered all over Ukraine and the world, we try to have quality time inside our agency. We come together for online/offline lunches and meetings to keep in touch with one another. Because this is what our team will cherish forever — moments we spent laughing, talking, working on projects, celebrating the agency's milestones like winning Red Dot Awards, and even living together.

Despite the war, this year Lazarev.agency grew almost twice — we welcomed over 36 more amazing people to our creative design team and expanded it to 60+ Lazarev'ians.

Ongoing russian missile attacks and energy shutdowns across the country completely changed the way Ukrainians live and work. So we had to adapt and learn to do both in new conditions.

We moved to another office to keep our people safer as well as got sleeping bags to ensure teammates were cozy and warm regardless of the temperature in their homes.

Lazarev. will remember 2022 as a year of opportunities to share our expertise with others. We published insightful articles on design and business in international and local media.

There have also been a lot of events where we got to speak about these topics, and we just loved it. Our CEO Kyrylo Lazarev and top design experts Andriy Gaday, Anna Demianenko, and Oleksandr Holovko shared their knowledge with the Ukrainian community of creatives. Lazarev'ians gave various lectures, two of them on an educational platform, Creative Practice. Also, our PM rockstars Kseniia Shyshkova and Kostiantyn Potapov are mentors on an IAMPM course, teaching people how to be top project managers.

It's a product design team of professionals we're proud to brag about and work with.

There have been tons of internal workshops as well. Yes, we not only teach but also hone our own skills in design and project management. Our already mentioned team leads, Anna Demianenko, Andriy Gaday, Kseniia Shyshkova, and also Oleksandr Koshytskyi, powered up Lazarev'ians with the knowledge to create even more winning projects.

G̶o̶o̶d̶bye, 2022

This year has been tough, but also filled with a strong spirit, love, and heartwarming moments our team will cherish. We're grateful to everyone who has been a part of those moments along the way.

And now, let's get ready for a new page, a new year. 2023, we have big plans for you.
