Product design for B2C

B2C product design: the first session and the thousandth

Nobody schedules a demo of a consumer app. People download it on a whim, open it once, and decide. B2C product design is the work of surviving that first open and earning the next thousand: time to first value measured in seconds, onboarding, and retention designed as one system, and craft you can feel in your thumb.

  • Mobile apps people open daily: health, fitness, finance, learning, habits. Products where the streak is the business.
  • Subscription products: apps where the trial, the paywall and the cancel flow decide revenue, and where value has to arrive before the payment sheet does.
  • Marketplaces and social products: both sides have to feel the value early, and the empty marketplace problem is a design problem before it is a supply problem.
  • AI products for everyday life: assistants, companions and tools where the first prompt is the onboarding and trust is the retention loop.

Is this service the right fit for your team?

This is for you if

  • A consumer product where the first session decides whether there is a second one.
  • An app whose growth depends on ratings, reviews, and the retention curve.
  • A founder or product leader who knows the funnel numbers and wants design pointed straight at them.
  • A live product with a leak: installs are fine, activation is not.

Not for you if

  • A workflow platform bought by a committee and rolled out by an admin. That is a different craft, and it lives on our product design for B2B page.
  • A team that wants screens polished without touching onboarding or retention. We will not sign up to decorate a leaking funnel.
  • Anyone shopping for the cheapest set of mockups. The value here is in what ships and what it does to the curve.

The stages we cover

Become a client
01

Concept and validation

We turn the idea into a testable prototype and put it in front of real people before anyone writes production code. You learn whether the core promise lands, and what to cut.

02

MVP

The smallest product that delivers the value, designed with onboarding in mind. The first session, the empty states, and the moment of first value get as much attention as the features.

03

Redesign of a live product

We start from your analytics, find where the funnel leaks, and redesign the flows that lose people, without breaking the habits of the users who stayed.

01

Launch and Growth

Store listing, screenshots, permission prompts, and the first session polish that ratings and reviews get written about. Retention loops, habit features, paywall and pricing experiments, notifications people keep enabled. We design against cohort data and ship changes as experiments.

Who we are and why teams like yours work with us

We exist for B2B teams under pressure to turn an AI roadmap into visible product usage, expansion, and a safer story in front of the C‑suite and investors. If design isn’t moving revenue, adoption, or retention, it’s decoration. We design to avoid that. Since 2015, we’ve shipped 600+ products and earned 120+ awards for work on complex, data-heavy tools: fintech platforms, AI copilots, decision engines, and vertical SaaS. Our work has helped clients turn “we have AI features” into “our customers actually use and pay for them.”

We started designing AI products in 2017, long before “AI-native” became a buzzword. With 30+ AI products shipped, we focus on the hard part most teams struggle with: making complex intelligence feel simple, trustworthy, and obviously valuable in a demo, a POC, or a QBR. We’re a 40+ person team of UX strategists, product designers, and analysts who treat design as a business function.

What sets us apart from a typical agency or a single in-house hire is pattern recognition at scale. We’ve seen what works – and what quietly kills adoption – across hundreds of AI and data-heavy products. That lets us spot failure modes early, bring proven interaction patterns to your team, and reduce the risk that your next AI release is another unused toggle in a settings menu.

We start with research not because it’s “best practice,” but because designing without understanding your users, your market, and your revenue model is just guessing with nicer pixels. From there, we collaborate with your product, AI, and design leaders to define where AI should show up, how it should behave, and how to make it obvious, safe, and monetizable.

If you’re a Head of AI, Product, or an AI-native founder who needs AI capabilities to be seen, understood, and used now, not someday, we’re built to be that partner.

How our B2C engagement runs:

Become a client
01

Research with real users

We watch people meet the product, map the funnel against your analytics, and name the exact moments attention drops.

02

Prototype fast

A testable prototype in weeks, tried with people from your actual audience, so the big bets get settled before production design.

03

Design in the system

Flows and screens built inside a design system, so shipping stays fast and consistent long after the engagement ends.

04

Ship with your team

We work alongside your engineers through implementation, because how the product finally feels is decided in the build.

05

Tune on live data

After launch we read activation and retention cohorts and keep iterating on onboarding and the loops until the curve says we are done.

Frequently asked questions

How we work, scale, and deliver measurable outcomes.

Do you do brand as well?

We design everything the user meets inside the product: visual language, motion, the tone of the interface copy. A full brand identity program is a different engagement, and we would rather say so than sell it. If you have a brand team, we work inside their system. If you do not, we make the product's own look strong enough to carry it.

How fast do we get to a testable prototype?

Weeks. The first testable prototype usually exists within the first few weeks, because testing the core promise before building it is the point of the whole approach.

How do you measure retention impact?

We baseline before we touch anything: activation rate, return cohorts by day and by week, funnel completion. Then design changes ship as experiments where traffic allows, so the effect is read from the curve rather than argued from taste. You see the same dashboards we do.

What about the app store and platform rules?

They shape the design from day one. Store guidelines, subscription and paywall rules, permission prompts, platform design languages and review triggers all constrain what a consumer product can do, and pretending otherwise gets apps rejected or buried. We design inside that reality and use it: a listing and a first session built for the store's own logic.
