AEO discovery

Do AI engines recommend you, ignore you, or get you wrong?

Before anyone writes a strategy or a page, we run discovery on two fronts. Keyword discovery maps the demand in your category. AEO discovery maps your standing inside AI answers: whether the engines recommend you, ignore you, or describe you wrongly.

  • Inputs: your briefs, strategy documents and sales materials, plus interviews where the documents are thin. This is where the zero volume keywords hide.
  • Journey mapping in your own language: the stages your buyers pass through, named the way your buyers name them.
  • Cluster build: seed keywords per cluster, expanded and verified against search data, then filtered for business relevance against your company profile and matched with competitor keywords.
  • Prompt generation: prompts at three lengths per cluster, grounded in that cluster's knowledge base and the journey, never invented from thin air.
  • The AI answer pass: we run the prompts, record who gets cited and recommended, and assign each cluster its perception verdict and both competitor lists.
  • The Extended Cluster Grouping Report: presented as a strategy you can act on, cluster by cluster, never a spreadsheet export. You approve it before anything gets built.

What we map per cluster

Each layer flows into the next, and all four are grounded in the same place: your knowledge base for that cluster, your ideal customer profile, and a customer journey mapped in your own language, with stages like picking a provider rather than generic funnel labels. A serious cluster carries at least a hundred keywords and a hundred prompts; contested clusters carry several hundred.

Layer 1. Keywords with verified volume

The phrases your buyers type into search are confirmed against search data, so the traffic behind each one is real.

02

Layer 2. Business keywords with zero volume

The terms from your briefs, decks, and sales conversations that no volume tool reports, and that sit closest to revenue.

03

Layer 3. Long-tail questions

The specific questions following from the first two layers, including everything Google's People Also Ask surfaces around them. Small on their own, large in aggregate, and often the easiest ground to take.

01

Layer 4. Prompts at three lengths

One sentence, two sentences, a short paragraph. Short prompts read like keywords; long prompts read like a buyer talking to an assistant. This layer is where discovery meets AI answers.

Who we are and why teams like yours work with us

We exist for B2B teams under pressure to turn an AI roadmap into visible product usage, expansion, and a safer story in front of the C‑suite and investors. If design isn’t moving revenue, adoption, or retention, it’s decoration. We design to avoid that. Since 2015, we’ve shipped 600+ products and earned 120+ awards for work on complex, data-heavy tools: fintech platforms, AI copilots, decision engines, and vertical SaaS. Our work has helped clients turn “we have AI features” into “our customers actually use and pay for them.”

We started designing AI products in 2017, long before “AI-native” became a buzzword. With 30+ AI products shipped, we focus on the hard part most teams struggle with: making complex intelligence feel simple, trustworthy, and obviously valuable in a demo, a POC, or a QBR. We’re a 40+ person team of UX strategists, product designers, and analysts who treat design as a business function.

What sets us apart from a typical agency or a single in-house hire is pattern recognition at scale. We’ve seen what works – and what quietly kills adoption – across hundreds of AI and data-heavy products. That lets us spot failure modes early, bring proven interaction patterns to your team, and reduce the risk that your next AI release is another unused toggle in a settings menu.

We start with research not because it’s “best practice,” but because designing without understanding your users, your market, and your revenue model is just guessing with nicer pixels. From there, we collaborate with your product, AI, and design leaders to define where AI should show up, how it should behave, and how to make it obvious, safe, and monetizable.

If you’re a Head of AI, Product, or an AI-native founder who needs AI capabilities to be seen, understood, and used now, not someday, we’re built to be that partner.

How the keyword and AEO discovery goes:

Every cluster gets a verdict: recommended, ignored, or misread.

Frequently asked questions

How we work, scale, and deliver measurable outcomes.

How is this different from a rank tracker or a keyword tool?

A rank tracker watches positions for keywords you already chose. Discovery decides which keywords and prompts deserve your effort in the first place, including the zero volume ones no tool reports, and then checks how AI engines answer them today. Tracking comes after, once there is a strategy worth tracking.

What do we need to give you?

Briefs, strategy decks, sales materials, anything that carries how you and your buyers actually talk. Where documents are thin, we interview. The better the inputs, the sharper the zero-volume layer and the prompts get; the rest we build from search data and the engines themselves.

How long does discovery take?

Weeks. The exact length depends on how many clusters your category splits into; around ten is typical. We agree the cluster list with you early, so scope is a shared decision rather than a surprise at the end.

What if the verdict is that we are invisible?

That is the most common verdict, and the most useful one to get early. Invisible means the engines hold no version of you to correct, which is easier to fix than a wrong one. The report shows exactly which clusters are open, and the strategy starts there. What would actually hurt is learning this in a year, from a lost deal.
