How we rebuilt Bookt's onboarding and checkout to grow engagement and retention
Project:
the project
How we redesigned a leaky booking flow into a reason users come back
Bookt is an online booking platform for beauty salons and barber shops, the place a client picks a stylist, a time, and pays. When the path to a booking gets confusing, the cost lands on the business: new users abandon onboarding before their first appointment, and payment steps drop deals at the last moment. Every lost booking is lost revenue for the salon and a weaker case for staying on the platform.
Bookt partnered with Lazarev.agency to find where users were slipping and reshape the core paths around them. We reworked onboarding, the payment flow, and navigation so booking became quick and repeatable, lifting daily, weekly, and monthly active users and giving salons a reason to keep Bookt at the center of their day.
The Project’s
Discovery Phase
UX/UI audit to surface the gaps costing bookings and calls
Bookt's salons paid for a hard-to-read interface. Customers who couldn't find how to pay or cancel ended up calling the salon, messaging Bookt, or not cancelling at all. New salons faced a different delay: moving their data from another booking system took manual work, slowing onboarding.
We audited every core screen, the user account and appointments pages, payment setup, navigation, and the dashboard, and tied each problem to the exact spot on the layout where it cost Bookt a booking or a support call.
Bookt's team got evidence for why key actions went unnoticed, why navigation sent people searching, and where onboarding lost new sign-ups. That gave Bookt a prioritized, ranked set of fixes pointed straight at the screens draining revenue, so the redesign could start with the changes worth the most.
How to turn UX audit findings into product wins
Wireframes to get new salons live and booking sooner
With the gaps identified, we wireframed the flows where Bookt had the highest return to gain: onboarding and payment. New salons now move through a guided, step-by-step setup, connecting calendars and adding working hours, staff, and services, so going live no longer depends on handing over a login and waiting for a manual data transfer.
At checkout, the redesign gathers the full charge, services, products, discounts, and tips into one clear summary with a single prominent action to take payment, so the moment of paying is obvious and quick to complete.
