How Lazarev.agency redesigned FunditOn to move donors from hesitation to giving
Project:
the project
A donation platform donors can trust with their money
FunditOn, formerly CareTagged, is a community fundraising platform where individuals and organizations raise money for personal and charitable causes. The original product was self-built on WordPress, and it showed. Inconsistent screens and a rough donation experience made the platform look amateur at the exact moment a donor decides whether their money is safe.
Lazarev.agency redesigned FunditOn's fundraising platform into a credible, conversion-focused product with a scalable design system. We took the DIY build and gave it a clear structure. The subsequent rebrand from CareTagged to FunditOn now stands on a foundation the team can extend to new fundraising initiatives without rebuilding from scratch.
The Project’s
Discovery Phase
Clearer item discovery to lift donation conversion
On FunditOn's marketplace, people raise money by buying and selling donated items, and every sale sends funds to a chosen cause. When a sale falls through, that cause loses money it was counting on.Â
Lazarev.agency rebuilt the path from landing to checkout: one search now covers an item, a cause, and a location, and each result appears as a consistent card with a clear price and a one-tap save.Â
A shopper can support a cause by buying something they want, and the design keeps the item-to-cause link in view the whole way to payment.
How design for nonprofits to double donations looks like
Trust cues to cut drop-offs at payment
A donor about to send money to a stranger's cause needs a reason to believe it is real, and on FunditOn's old build there was little to reassure them. Lazarev.agency gave every FunditOn cause page a set of credibility signals: live supporter activity, visible progress toward the goal, a direct line to the seller, and a clear way to report a problem.Â
Each signal answers a question a hesitant donor is already asking, so proof of a real, active cause sits right where the decision to give happens. Fewer people abandon the page at the moment of doubt, and more causes hold donors through to a contribution.
A guided setup to get more causes live
Setting up a cause on the old FunditOn meant facing a long, unclear form. Lazarev.agency broke FunditOn's cause creation into numbered steps with a visible tracker, so a fundraiser always knows where they are and what is left.Â
Listing an item to sell carries only the fields it needs, with room to skip a step and return, so momentum holds through to submission. More fundraisers finish the setup and open their cause, which puts more items up for sale and more money in reach of every cause.
A component system to launch new causes faster
Adding anything new to the old FunditOn meant building it from scratch, and custom work is slow and costly. Lazarev.agency gave FunditOn a component system: one item card, one filter set, one catalog layout, reused wherever items appear.Â
A new cause or category slots into a structure already built, which lets FunditOn launch it in a fraction of the time a custom page would take. New fundraising initiatives reach donors sooner and cost FunditOn less to launch.
A buying conversation built for phone and desktop
Many people open FunditOn on a phone, and a buyer who cannot message a seller or confirm a purchase on mobile leaves. Lazarev.agency built FunditOn's messaging and buy-request flow to work the same on a phone and a desktop: a buyer asks questions about an item, and a seller reviews and accepts the request from either screen.Â
Nothing about closing a sale depends on sitting at a computer. More conversations reach a sale on mobile, and FunditOn keeps the donors who would otherwise drop at a cramped phone screen.

Purchase history to earn repeat contributions
After paying on the old FunditOn, a buyer had no clear record of the order and no way to confirm it went through.Â
Our team gave FunditOn a purchase history where every order shows its status in one clear account view. A buyer can see what they have bought and which causes they have backed without emailing anyone to check. That record of giving brings buyers back for a second and third purchase, and repeat buyers are what keep causes funded over time.Â

FAQ
How does design increase donor trust on a fundraising platform?
Credibility signals do the work. On FunditOn, Lazarev.agency added live supporter activity, visible progress toward each goal, a direct line to the seller, and a clear way to report a problem to every cause page, so hesitant donors get their questions answered at the point of giving and fewer abandon before contributing.
How can design improve conversion rates for online donations?
A clear path from discovery to payment keeps buyers moving. Lazarev.agency rebuilt FunditOn's marketplace around one search for an item or a cause plus a location, with consistent item cards and the item-to-cause link kept in view to checkout, so more browsers complete a purchase.
Why does rebranding matter for a fundraising or nonprofit platform?
A professional identity signals credibility to donors and fundraisers. When CareTagged rebranded to FunditOn, Lazarev.agency delivered a design system to carry the broader positioning, giving the platform a credible foundation the team can extend to new fundraising initiatives without rebuilding.
How does a design system help a platform scale?
Reusable components cut the cost of every new page. Lazarev.agency built FunditOn on one item card, one filter set, and one catalog layout, so a new cause or category slots into a structure already built and launches in a fraction of the time a custom page would take.
Why is mobile-responsive design important for fundraising platforms?
Many donors give from a phone, so a feature limited to desktop loses them. Lazarev.agency built FunditOn's messaging and buy-request flow to work the same on phone and desktop, so a buyer can ask questions and confirm a purchase from either device.
How does order tracking or purchase history encourage repeat giving?
A clear record of past contributions builds the confidence to give again. FunditOn shows every order in a purchase-history view with its status, so buyers can see what they have bought and which causes they have backed, which brings them back for repeat purchases.
What business outcomes can a fundraising platform redesign deliver?
Higher conversion, more repeat giving, and faster launches. Lazarev.agency rebuilt FunditOn's self-built WordPress product as a credible, conversion-focused platform with a scalable design system, so donors trust it with their money and causes reach funding sooner.
